 (5) BRIEF DESCRIPTION of DATA FILE:  A 32.5-day record of horizontal currents 
     from a mooring in the Satilla River.

 (7) RESEARCH LOCATION:  Satilla River Mooring E at SL+11.40 (2-character river
     code + 4-digit code for upstream distance from river mouth in km).
     Latitude: 30.986 degrees N; Longitude: 81.514 degrees W.
     Mean water depth was 10.3 meters.

 (8) EXPERIMENTAL DESIGNS AND METHODS: An InterOcean Systems Model S4 current 
     meter (s/n 909) was moored 1.0 meter above bottom on a frame.  
     One-minute vector averages of horizontal current speed and direction were 
     recorded every six minutes beginning 26 March 1997 at 0000 GMT (YRDAY 85.0)
     and ending 27 April 1997 at 1200 GMT (YRDAY 117.5).  East and north 
     components were derived from the velocity vector.  The coordinate system 
     was then rotated 59 degrees clockwise to align the rotated x-component 
     with the along-channel direction; positive x-cur = EBB direction;
     positive y-cur = cross-channel, ~toward the northeast.
