(6) KEYWORDS: Satilla, CTD, currents, Neap, Anchor (7) RESEARCH LOCATION: The Satilla River at SL+ 12.17 (2-character river code + 4-digit code for upstream distance from river mouth in km). (8) EXPERIMENTAL DESIGNS AND METHODS: Vertical profiles were taken with an instrumented tripod that was equipped with an Ocean Sensors CTD, a Marsh-McBirney current meter, a fluxgate digital compass, a D&A Optical Backscatterance Sensor and a set of pumps to collect water samples for suspended sediment concentration calibration. This profiling instrument is described in detail by Sternberg et al. 1991; see the REFERENCE section (#14 below). The downcast and upcast were averaged to produce vertical depth bins of the various recorded parameters. East and north components were derived from the velocity vector. The coordinate system was then rotated 35 degrees clockwise to align the rotated x-component with the along-channel direction; positive x-cur = EBB direction; positive y-cur = cross-channel, ~toward the northeast. (9) NOTES AND COMMENTS: Each cast has a header that contains information in the following order: cast number, station location, date, time (EST), max water depth (m), latitude (degrees and minutes N), and longitude (degrees and minutes W). Missing and invalid values appear as NaN (Not a Number). Fofonoff and R.C. Millard Jr.; UNESCO Technical Papers in Marine Science #44, 1983. Suspended sediment concentrations were converted from optical backscatterance (OBS) voltage based on a linear regression with in situ pumped water samples.
