 (5) BRIEF DESCRIPTION of DATA FILE:  1m vertical bin averages of 24 CTD casts,
     including calibrated OBS and uncalibrated chlorophyll a fluorescence, taken
     aboard the R/V Blue Fin on the Satilla River at both high and low water and
     during an ebb tide on July 17, 1996.

 (7) RESEARCH LOCATION:  The Satilla River from SL+003.8 to SL+032.0 (2 digit river
     code + 4 digit code for distance from river mouth in km).

 (8) EXPERIMENTAL DESIGNS AND METHODS: Casts were taken with a SeaBird Electronics CTD25
     (S/N 64).  After soaking at the surface for approximately 45 seconds, the CTD was  
     lowered to the bottom by a power winch and then held there for an additional 45
     seconds before being raised to the surface. The collected data's downcasts  
     were processed using standard SeaBird software to produce the 1m vertical
     bin averages.

 (9) NOTES AND COMMENTS:  Each cast has a header that contains information in the
     following order: cast number, station location, date, time (EST), max water
     depth (M), latitude (N in degrees and minutes), and longitude
     (W in degrees and minutes).  Estimated predicted tidal height at station 
     SL+002: High Water at 0923 EST and Low Water at 1537 EST.

     Both salinity and sigma-t were computed by the SeaBird software program.  The 
     formulas used were obtained from "Algorithms for Computation of Fundamental
     Properties of Seawater" by N.P. Fofonoff and R.C. Millard Jr.; Unesco technical
     papers in marine science #44, 1983.
