(1) FILE NAME: 9510ctda.otb (2) YEAR and MONTH: 1995, October (3) PI: Dr. Jack Blanton (4) OTHERS: Julie Amft (5) BRIEF DESCRIPTION of DATA FILE: 1m vertical bin averages of 3 CTD casts, including uncalibrated OBS and uncalibrated chlorophyll a fluorescence, taken aboard the R/V El Mar on Charles Creek (a tributary of the Ogeechee River) during a neap tide on October 15, 1995. (6) KEYWORDS: Ogeechee, CTD, Neap, Charles Creek (7) RESEARCH LOCATION: Charles Creek, a tributary of the Ogeechee River. Three samples were taken and their locations were : 1=Ogeechee side 2=River side 3=Front (landside) (8) EXPERIMENTAL DESIGNS AND METHODS: Casts were taken with a SeaBird Electronics CTD25 (S/N 94). The collected data's downcasts were processed using standard SeaBird software to produce the 1m vertical bin averages. (9) NOTES AND COMMENTS: Each cast has a header that contains information in the following order: cast number, station location, date, time (EST), max water depth (M), latitude (N in degrees and minutes), and longitude (W in degrees and minutes). (10) VARIABLE DESCRIPTION: VARIABLE VARIABLE DESCRIPTION PRES/UNITS CODED -------- -------------------- ---------- ----- cast cast number N depth depth 0.1 M N temp temperature 0.01 deg C N sal salinity 0.01 PSU N sig sigma-t (density) 0.01 Kg/M^3 N fluor uncalibrated chlorophyll a fluorescence 0.01 V*6 N obs uncalibrated 0.1 V*400 N optical backscatterence (11) CALCULATIONS: Salinity=PSS-78 Sigma-t=p(s,t,O)-1000 Both salinity and sigma-t were computed by the SeaBird software program. The formulas used were obtained from "Algorithms for Computation of Fundamental Properties of Seawater" by N.P. Fofonoff and R.C. Millard Jr.; Unesco technical papers in marine science #44, 1983.
